Academic, Admin, Financial & Technical Regulation

   The University is an independent academic organization aiming at achieving higher education and scientific research objectives and community service. For this purpose, the University, subject to the Higher Education policies, shall:

  1. Develop its own programs, curricula, study and research plans.
  2. Hold examinations.
  3. Award academic Degrees below in accordance with the University applicable certificate and degree awarding regulation:
    • Bachelor Degree.
    • Postgraduate Diploma (Higher Diploma).
    • Master Degree.
    • PhD Degree.
    • Honorary Degree, to be granted by a University Council resolution upon approval recommendation by the President.
    • Any other academic degree to be established in the future by the University Council.
  • The University Council is entitled to award academic degrees in association with other partner universities under agreements for the purpose of regulating the award of such degrees.
  • The University Council is entitled to originate any new professional or any other certificates at its absolute discretion.
  • All academic programs executed under any academic agreements with other universities shall be governed by the terms and conditions stated therein.
  • The University consists of a number of faculties, centers and departments.
  • The University shall have; according to the provisions stated herein and the instructions issued by the Higher Education Council, an organizational infrastructure of an academic, administrative, financial, and technical association.

   The University's Academic, Administrative, Financial, and Technical Infrastructure shall include the following:

  1. Board of Trustees.
  2. The President.
  3. The Vice Presidents.
  4. The Deans.
  5. Dean of Graduate Studies and Research.
  6. Dean of Student Affairs.
  7. Dean of Regional Programs.
  8. Heads of academic departments.
  9. Directors of scientific, administrative, financial, and technical centers and other Services departments.
  10. The Advisory Board.

   Without prejudice to its right to establish new councils as per by-laws and regulations, the University includes the following councils:

  1. Board of Trustees.
  2. University Council.
  3. Deanship of Graduate Studies and Research.
  4. Faculty Council.
  5. Department Council.
  6. Disciplinary Council
  • The University is entitled to establish new faculties, scientific departments, academic programs, scientific centers and administrative departments whether inside or outside the University campus. The University also may merge, cancel, stop any of the aforementioned by upon recommendation by the Board of Trustees.
    • The University is entitled to open branches, centers and representative offices representing it outside the Kingdom of Bahrain if deemed necessary by the Board of Trustees after taking all required procedures.
    • The University is entitled to conclude cooperation agreements to establish new academic programs with associations whether inside or outside the Kingdom, according upon recommendation by the Board of Trustees and after taking all required procedures.
